Community Games U-10 Final, June 2nd, 2013:

Kiltoom/Cam pipped at the post

Kiltoom/Cam 2-7  Drum/Clonown 3-6

This was a wonderful game of football played between two fine footballing sides on Sunday, June 2nd. Kiltoom/Cam had the better of the first half. A long ball from Shane Daly deceived the Drum/Clonown 'keeper to give Kiltoom/Cam the perfect start. This was followed by a point by Bobby Nugent.

Drum/Clonown hit back with a goal and a point to draw level, but a goal and two points from Bobby Nugent and a point from Thomas O’Brien put Kiltoom/Cam into a six point lead. Drum/Clonown replied with two further points to leave Kiltoom/Cam leading by four points going into the half time break.

Drum/Clonown started the second half in blistering fashion, scoring 1-2 without reply to take the lead for the first time.  Shane Daly replied with a point to Kiltoom/Cam but Drum/Clonown scored a third goal direct from a free and followed this up with another point.

Drum/Clonown were now four points up with time almost up. To their credit, Kiltoom/Cam kept attacking to try and reduce the deficit and Bobby Nugent added two further points. Bury as they might, Kiltoom/Cam could not get the elusive goal despite the great efforts of Shane O’Boyle, Paddy Higgins and Heather McGraine. At the final whistle, the final margin was two points.

This competition was the first competitive competition for most of the Kiltoom/Cam players.  All of the players displayed great skill, determination and commitment throughout the tournament and can be very proud of their efforts. Sincere congratulations to  Drum/Clonown who now go on to represent Roscommon in the Connacht finals.

Community Games U-10 semi-final June 2nd 2013:

Kiltoom/Cam through to final

Kiltoom/Cam (CK) 4-10   Boyle 2-1

Earlier in the day at Ballyleague, Kiltoom/Cam qualified for the final of the U-10 Community Games. This was a much closer game than the scoreline suggests. The first half was a very close affair. Kiltoom/Cam opened the scoring with a point from Bobby Nugent, followed with a free from the same player. Boyle responded with a goal to take the lead but Kiltoom/Cam replied with points from Thomas O'Brien and  Shane Daly.

Boyle then camped in the Kiltoom/Cam half but some super saves from Harry Griselan and heroic defending from Abbey Murray, James Rourke and Marian Nolan ensured that Boyle only registered one point to leave the scores level at half time.

The second half opened with a lovely point from Daniel Keenan and was followed by scores from Thomas, Bobby, Shane Daly, Conor Hand (goal) and a further goal from Jamie Curley.  Kevin Derwin had a wonderful shot saved by the keeper and Kiltoom/Cam look at this stage to be coasting. Boyle did hit back with a goal to keep the game alive but the very impressive Daniel Meeley then advanced forward to score a further goal to put the game beyond Boyle. Kiltoom/Cam then added further scores late in the game to give the scoreboard a very one sided look.

This was a very good second half performance from Kiltoom/Cam, and in addition to the aforementioned, there were also good performances from Amy Gallagher, Áine McGrath, Simon O' Boyle and Oran Benton. Kiltoom/Cam qualify to meet Drum/Clonown in the final.
