ST
BRIGIDS MINOR COMMITTEE NOTES WEEK ENDING FEBRUARY 8th 2015

Minors:
The Minor team got their league campaign off to a winning start on Sunday last
when they had a good win against Padraig Pearses in Kiltoom on a scoreline of

St
Brigid’s 1-15  Padraig Pearses 0 -15

Féile
Peile na nÓg 2015:
An U-13 team will be competing this year at Féile Peile na
nÓg, which will be held in Wexford at the end of June. A series of fundraisers
has been organised over the next few months, the centre-piece being a ‘Monster
Progressive 25 Card Game’, taking place on Friday, March 13th at St
Brigid’s Sports and Social Centre, Kiltoom. €5,000 in prize money is up for
grabs and admission is €25 per person. Participants are guaranteed at least two
games. This promises to be an excellent night’s entertainment while being an
important fundraiser for the Féile. Please support if you can and if you don’t
play cards, spread the news about this once-off card-playing extravaganza! More
details about the event coming soon.

U-12s:
The U-12s started training last week, with their first session indoors. It is
hoped that training will be outdoors from this week, weather permitting.

U-10s:
Training is scheduled to commence very shortly. Players will be notified of
details during the week.

U-8s:
Training for the U-8 grade takes place on Saturday next, February 14th
at 11 am.

Nursery
programme:
The nursery programme kicked off last Saturday with a very large
turnout of children. Registration for the nursery is €20 per child. Takes place
every Saturday 11-12 in the clubhouse.

Registration:
A registration night for players, members, existing and new, takes place at the
end of this month, February. It must emphasised to parents and players ahead of
registration night that all players must be registered before the GAA’s March
31st registration deadline in order to be eligible and insured to play for
their respective teams.

Mouth
guards:
It’s good to see that training sessions have commenced for most teams.
A reminder to all about the use of mouth guards which are mandatory for players
in all age grades, whether in training or in games. This rule has been
mandatory for players in grades up to Minor since 2013 and applies to all age
grades since January 1st 2014. It is the responsibility of each individual
player to use a mouth guard. A properly fitted mouth guard is the best
available protective device for reducing the incidence and severity of
sports-related dental injuries. It is important to remember that players will
not be covered under the GAA player injury scheme if they don’t comply with the
mouth guard rule. Mouth guards are available for purchase in the club shop,
contact Bernie Sammon,
(086) 606 4604.

Presentation
night:
Many thanks to all the parents and children who turned out for what was
a very successful presentation night last Friday night. Thanks to all who
contributed in any way on the night. The event also provided a very valuable
opportunity to highlight to existing and potential club members the many
positive developments that are taking place within the club at present.
