U16 Girls League
The St Brigid's Under 16 girls began defending their Division 1 League title with a hard-fought victory away to Shannnon Gaels today . In truly challenging weather conditions both teams had to fight the elements and the rustiness of playing their first game of the season and at the end of the first half Shannon Gaels had ground out a 2-7 to 2-2 lead.
St Brigid's really came to life in the second half with an explosive start where they outscored Shannon Gaels 3-1 to 0-2 in the first ten minutes. Shannon Gaels fought their way back and with one minute remaining led by two points. However this St Brigid's Girl team has a tradition of digging deep and with a combination of determined defending and direct attacking they scored 1-1 to win the game by two points.
Final Score St Brigid's 6 - 4 - Shannon Gaels 3 - 11
