Club Notes 4th April
St. Brigid’s GAA Club notes week ending, April 4th 2021
Sports Award: Hearty congrats to Ruaidhrí Fallon who scooped the Outstanding Achievement Award at the 2020 Westmeath Independent Sports Awards held virtually last Friday evening. A richly deserved award for Ruaidhrí for, first and foremost, a series of outstanding displays in our 2020 senior championship winning campaign. Still only 17 years of age at the time, Ruaidhrí in his senior debut season became a key figure in the successful bid to recapture the Fahey Cup. Ruaidhrí was also on our successful 2020 minor championship winning team, which secured a five-in-a-row, and was a member of the U20 Roscommon team that got to the Connacht Final last year. Well done also to Seamus Nugent - father of one of our coaches, Enda Nugent - who was honoured with the Hall of Fame award. Seamus has made a huge contribution to sport in the Athlone area, both on and off the playing field.
Online jump competition: Congratulations to Liam Hennelly (U19) and Emmet Muldowney (U15) on winning the free yearly membership in our recent online jump competition for our players from U13 to U19. Some amazing jump scores were recorded and it is great to see all our lads continuing to remain active. We would like to thank Eamon O Rourke for his kind sponsorship of the competition.
Registration Notice: Due to COVID-19 Level 5 restrictions, unfortunately it is not possible to open the St. Brigid's Centre for our annual registration evenings. However, the option to register online is available for all forms of registration be it adult player; adult non-playing member; handball member; social membership; voluntary subscription for honorary members and underage players. Full details on our website.
5k fun walk/run: Well done to all our members who participated in the Cam Defibrillator Group fundraising walk/run over the weekend in aid of defibrillators for the Cam, Brideswell and Curraghboy areas of the parish.
