Our minors had a busy week having beaten Knockmore the previous Friday following extra time they took on Leitrim champions St. Mary’s on Tuesday night in the Connacht Centre of Excellence. The lads showed great determination coming back from being six points down at half time to winning this game by eight points.
On Friday night last they then faced the Galway champions Salthill-Knocknacarra. This was an extremely tough game in difficult conditions. Salthill-Knocknacarra had the better start going in at half time five points up 0-7 to 0-2 in their favour, however our lads came out fighting in the second half and narrowed the gap and managed to level within the first ten minutes of the second half. Unfortunately Salthill-Knocknacarra pulled away again with a goal and points from play and our lads still didn’t give up getting a goal in the dying minutes of the game to bring us back within a point. A free at the very end just curved outside the post but it was a gallant effort by all and showed the guts and determination of this team not going down without a fight.
