A Night at the OsKars

St. Brigid’s A Night at the Oskars has proven so popular a second night has been added, as tickets for Saturday night sold out on the first night of sale. This is no doubt due to all the well known locals in the cast including County footballer Ian Kilbride, Mayor of Athlone Aengus O’Rourke, President of Athlone Chamber of Commerce John McGrath, St. Brigid’s chairman Tomás Beades, Club PRO Áine Martin, Ladies footballers Fiona Gavin, Alaine Morris and Orla Donnelly.
Sunday nights show guarantees to be a great night with special guest judge Billy Keane, son of infamous John B. Keane and writer and columnist with the Irish Independent.

St. Brigid’s Sevens

St Brigids GAA Club are hosting a Sevens competition which will be held on Saturday the 23rd June.

The competition comprises of 24 teams drawn from the four provinces. This will be the inaugural Midland Sevens.

The places are filled on a first come first in bases; latest date for registration is Friday the 15th June. Teams may register through the following link.

U14 Boys League Shield Semi Final

St Brigid’s secured their place in the U14 Division 4 Shield Final with a win against Padraig Pearses in Kiltoom on Sunday the 27th of May. The St. Brigid’s lads signalled their intent from the start, with Billy Ray Dolan and Charlie O’Carroll netting early goals and Ewan Joyce adding two good points from frees to give the home team a comfortable lead that they never surrendered.

All players contributed to the win, from goalkeeper Adam Feeley who provided excellent distribution, whilst in defence Cormac Meeley and James O’Rourke were solid throughoutdenying their opponents time and space on the ball. On the halfback line Noah Heavey and Niall Derwin were dynamic, whilst in the midfield area Ewan Joyce, Robert Keenan and Rowan Trundle came out on top providing a platform for their teammates. In the forward line Killian Curley, Fionnan Kilcommons and Charlie O’Carroll were incisive with O’Carroll particularlymenacing throughout.

Up front Andrew Sheffield and the goal machine Billy Ray Dolan were prolific and combined well to finish the opportunities created for them by their teammates.

Everyone played their part in an impressive display with six U12 players making their debut at U14 level.​
