Club Notes 27th September 2020
St. Brigid's Notes week ending Sunday, September 27th 2020
MFC: Our minors had a very impressive victory over Padraig Pearses in the Division1 Final on Saturday last at Hyde Park. We started in whirlwind fashion and kept a stranglehold on the game until the very finish. The first half was particularly impressive where both our scoring accuracy and our work rate throughout the pitch ensured we built up a strong lead at the break, 1-8 to 0-1 in front. The second half continued in the same vein as we tightened the grip and ran out comprehensive winners at the finish. Well done to all the players and management. Five minor titles in a row for the club is some achievement. See full match report inside.
Ladies IFC: Hard luck to our ladies team who put in a very courageous performance against Kilmovee Shamrocks in the Connacht quarter-final, losing out narrowly on a scoreline of 4-9 to 3-10. Down eight points at the break, 4-4 to 1-5, the ladies put in a huge shift in the second half, outscoring Kilmovee in this half by 2-5 to 0-5. Unfortunately time ran out in the end. A great performance and a great year for the team and management. See match report inside.
JFC A: Best of luck to our Junior A team and management who face Western Gaels in the JFC A semifinal on Sunday next in Hyde Park at 12.30pm.
JFC B: Following a draw (0-12 to 1-9) in their first championship game against St Dominic's in Kiltoom last Friday evening, a busy week awaits for our Junior Bs who are in action on Wednesday against Roscommon Gaels in Lisanamult at 8pm and again on Saturday next against St. Aidan's in Kiltoom at 7pm. It was great to see club legend Frankie Dolan donning the club colours again on Friday last after three years away from on-field action!
Schools visit: Thanks to our senior players from our men's and ladies' teams who took time out to visit the schools in the parish with the winning trophies. Great excitement was had by all and we will be posting the photos on our social media channels over the next week.
