U-14s Féile: With wins over Roscommon Gaels and St Aidan's in the previous two rounds, St Brigids U-14 progressed to the County Féile final on Saturday evening last following an impressive victory away to Strokestown. The home side proved to be skilful and determined opposition but St Brigid’s got off to a flying start with early goals from Brian Derwin and Ian O'Rourke. Cian McBrearty and Niall Murray were dominant at midfield, providing the forward line with many opportunities to score while in a stout defence, Tommy Glynn was outstanding. St Brigid’s were ahead at half time but knew that the job was only half done. The second half started well for St Brigids as they again notched a number of early goals. By this stage, Donncha Gately and Eoin Egan were proving a handful for the Strokestown defence, leading to further scores. To their credit, Strokestown never surrendered but St Brigid’s won in the end on a score lineof 8-7 to 2-8.
