U12 Boys

Our U12 boys had two home games on Saturday against Western Gaels. First up was Our Division 1 team, this game was dominated by the visitors who went on to run out comprehensive winners.

Our 12 Boys Division 5 team played out a draw under perfect conditions in Kiltoom last Saturday morning against Western Gaels.
St. Brigids's got off to a great start and built a commanding lead early in the first half.  However, the visitors finished the half much the stronger, leaving two points between the teams at halftime in favour of the home side.
The second half was nip and tuck, both side playing with a lot of skill and commitment.  By the time the referee called a halt to the proceedings, the teams could not be separated with a draw being the fairest result.

U14 Boys

St.Brigids 3-08  Elphin 4-10

The division 4 team suffered a narrow defeat on Monday evening, going down by 5 points after a closely fought game.  This was a very good performance by the lads, and with a little bit of luck we could have come out with a victory. We had 5 U12’s playing, Sean Minnock, Brenda Murphy, Luke Sylvestor, Robert Keenan and Andrew Sheffiled and they all acquitted themselves admirably.  There were great performances from Matthew Samuels in goal, Daniel Skehan, Sol Trundle and Harry Griselan, Brian Armstrong in defense, Luke Murphy in midfield, Luke Whelan, Eoin Reid, Eanna McDonald and Alex O’Donoghue in attack.

St.Brigids 3-15, Roscommon Gaels 3-07

Our Div 1 team completed the league section of the championship with a hard fought victory in Lisnamult on Thu evening. Playing with a strong breeze in the first half, we found ourselves 6 points down after 15 minutes. We eventually fought our way back into the game to lead narrowly at half time. Gaels again took the initiative in the 2nd half and piled on the pressure, but the lads dug deep and just managed to keep their  noses ahead, and eventually pulled away in the final 5 minutes. The final scorline does  not reflect the closeness of the game, and the team will need to improve in all areas if we are to compete in the knock out stages of  the championship. However, the lads did show a lot of character and resilience and this was very encouraging for the team management.

We now play Pearses in the Semi final, with Clan awaiting the winners in the Final.
