Minor Championship

St. Brigid's 1-11, Clann na nGael 0-13.

Last Thursday saw a last gasp win for the St. Brigid's minor team over Clann na nGael in the first group match of the championship. Brigids opened the scoring with a Ciarán Sugrue point, but Clann quickly opened up a 0-4 to 0-1 lead after 15 minutes. Brigids responded with two huge points form Donnacha Gately and three from Brian Derwin. Two Clann points before the break saw the teams go in level at 6 points a piece. Clann had the better of the second half, and despite points from Derwin and Sugrue, Brigids trailed by three in the final ten minutes, which could have been more but for a missed Clann penalty. A Gatley free cut the gap to two and then a well worked move up the pitch was somehow finished to the net by Ciarán Sugrue. The teams exchanged points in the closing minutes, but Brigids ran out winners on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-13. Well done to all involved.
